Zeitgeist Editorial Publication
Zeitgeist is a German word that means 'spirit of the age,' derived from 'Zeit' meaning 'time' and 'Geist', meaning 'ghost'.
For my final thesis, I chose to create an editorial piece outlining the psychology behind family photography. I spent two weeks scanning a large collection of my family’s film photography that spans from 1940 to 1970. Most of the photography shown throughout the book is from a medium format Rolleicord III twin reflex film camera. I’ve included photos I took of the various cameras used to capture these historical photos. Patterns and family stereotypes are explored throughout the accompanying text.
